Leaving no one behind with immunisation
Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance is a public-private partnership that helps vaccinate more than half the world’s children against some of the deadliest diseases.
By the late 1990s, nearly 30 million children in developing countries remained unprotected from life-threatening diseases.
Gavi stepped in as a groundbreaking public-private partnership, ensuring vaccines reached the world's poorest by guaranteeing scale purchases with the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, removing commercial barriers and driving down vaccine costs.
Gavi’s structure requires countries to pay part of the cost of vaccines, with their share growing as income levels rise, empowering nations to build robust and self-sustaining health systems.
Today, nineteen countries now finance their own vaccination programs.
> 1.1 billion
children vaccinated through routine programmes
> 1.9 billion
vaccinations through preventive vaccination campaigns
> 18.8 million
future deaths averted

fully self-financing
Why now?
Gavi’s mission has protected millions of children, but critical funding is now at risk—including potentially all U.S. Government support and more than 40% of the United Kingdom's contribution.
Gavi estimates that losing U.S. funding alone could mean 75 million children will miss out on routine, lifesaving vaccinations over the next five years, leading to over 1.2 million preventable deaths.
